The harsh winter has passed and given way to a mild spring. The north remains frigid and cold and the south remains starved of water, but the extreme temperatures and storms are slowly beginning to subside. Vegetation is beginning to grow where once it was too cold, and the rains are returning to the deserts previously plagued with wintry drought.

Nestled between the base of Mount Ionax and the northernmost boundary of the Highland Pines is the Wintertide. It is a small channel which leads to the alcove between the Frostlands and Mount Ionax. The narrow passage creates a thunderous noise when the weather is unbecoming and the seas turn violent, echoing loudly as the waters crash through. Decorated quite generously with small, burly pines which can withstand the drastic changes in temperature and the cold which comes from the mountain.

The Nesslewood is named for the long and winding trees, with a constant fog hanging around the forest. Lions are often said to get lost in this large and endless forest, for there are very few landmarks to differentiate one place from the last. Even the mountain range that would be visible in the distant is choked by the thick canopy of the Nesslewood. Only lions who have lived here, and have learned to mark the trees of where they walked, can navigate this endless forest.

Summerbrook is but a husk of a name, situated on the northeastern ridge of the Highland Pines, and yet in and away from the frigid coast. A stream runs through here, continually fed by the underground tributaries that originate from the north. The stream here is always fresh and provides a clean source of water which helps the Highland Pines grow outwards. Rocks have long since been smoothed over by the swift moving currents, the shallowest parts are known breeding grounds for smaller species.
