This was her very first time being in the presence of someone who was actually in awe of her, instead of the other way around. Sure she was amazed by his skill but she felt too shy to ask and quite frankly, she kind of liked that someone was taking in interest in what she thought was amazing. As much as she loved Sollee, she wasn’t so sure that he could readily accept her the way she truly was. Ahriman’s fascination with her seemed relentless but she was glad to have someone on her side, and too excited to turn humble.

“As far as I know,” she pauses, “I can only project my voice to you.” Corinna had tried only a couple times in her younger youth to read people’s thoughts and know their deepest ideas but she had never been able to break that far. Telepathy, to Cori, was a rather useless gift unless she needed to tell someone a secret. Obviously, she didn’t have too many friends to tell secrets to even if she had a secret to tell. Though, judging by his rather abrupt emotional change she can feel his embarrassment seep through him before he attempted to apologize.

Corinna promptly shook her head, a warm smile as she attempted to soothe over the ruffles he had thrown himself. “I don’t mind,” she answered earnestly and underneath it all she hoped that he wanted to know about her more. Corinna admired him and she didn’t know all too much about him but she knew enough – she gravitated towards him emotionally which wasn’t that hard to do for her but this felt different. “I’d like to know about you, though… if you’ll let me in?” She didn’t want to be spiteful and say that he owed her because she didn’t think it worked like that but it only seemed fair that he allow her in.

There was another facet to her ability which made him wonder, but the very escalation of those thoughts threatened to make him nearly apoplectic with rage. What if others could do this, if other Kings could sense the emotional stability or weakness of another? The thought made him want to steel himself, but he didn’t know how to potentially push her out of a place that had never needed a barrier. But it also wasn’t her he wanted to push or keep out. A disturbing though, could the Goddesses pit them against one another out of sheer will? But they were just… and any powers she gave out were to the discretion of those that inherited them – that is how it was, how his belief carried through his devotion to them. I don’t mind. Her voice lifts his eyes, they lock against hers as he mulls over her next question. To let her in, to put the walls of his defenses completely down and to blindly trust a stranger. Normally his mind would say no, and despite a moment’s hesitation, he resisted his better judgement and nodded.

”Sure.” But he didn’t know how, clearly he looked to her for guidance, attempting to drop his defenses so to speak. His mind relaxed, and even though there was a routine calmness, he could still see in his mind’s eye his desires, his questions, even his doubts. His lips settled into a firm line, and his eyes closed so that he couldn’t see her, purposely. It would be too distracting, too difficult to allow himself time between his thoughts if he was caught up looking in her direction, though how badly he wanted to see the way her body would subtly shift – if it even did – during her own practice.

Even though he was still quite a stranger and just as unknown a creature as when she hadn’t known his name, she still felt compelled to stay. It was easy to guess, however, why that was. Easy to see and feel that she had longed to find company that wanted to embrace her gifts rather than run away. Someone who might be able to help her grow and learn rather than covet and conceal.

Of course, it wasn’t until he said the word and she began to think up some questions he might be able to answer that she recognized the shift. That there was something indefinite about his acceptance of letting her that allowed her to see that he didn’t seem so sure after all. That there was something about letting her in that he seemed a bit hesitant on. As though he were quite uncomfortable with even the thought of letting her know a small detail about himself.

Corinna feels somewhat shamed, her gifts falling by the wayside for a moment as she tried to understand how to approach this without showcasing her somewhat hurt feelings. Tail moved idly behind her, large and fluffy ears moving back against her skull as it lowered half a foot. “You can say no,” she eventually settles on her response to his actions. Her emotions clearing the air as she didn’t want him to feel uncomfortable or embarrassed, he had a right to guard himself.

While she had the ability to speak into his mind, her telepathic powers were limited and there was no answer that she could find that he wasn’t willing to say. Anything he spoke would be entirely his decision, not hers. Corinna couldn’t force him to indulge her and she wasn’t about to try and make him either.

Once more his eyes peeked open, looking at her as she announced that he was free to make his own decision. But he had known this, and with what appeared to be a slightly faltering smile, the husk of his voice gained confidence as he closed his eyes once more. ”But I don’t want to.” Certainly not now, not when his curiosity was brimming. This time as his eyes closed he could feel his mind clearing, allowing just his emotions to flow through him. At first there was a mild bit of tension, wondering if this was working or not – wondering how it worked if it did. And as those thoughts came, the tension fell away and she may be able to feel the dawn of discovery and excitement grow as his mind buzzed quietly in the background. It was an easy transformation, smooth as his breathing took over the beating of his heart and the motions of his body. As his chest rose and fell steadily so did the hair of his mane, along his breast, gently rustle. Large, probing antlers only moved with the idly sway upwards and downwards from his breaths as they released, at first from his jaws but as those closed they moved through his nostrils. And a part of him gave way to that wonder, exploring, reaching out as though inviting her to influence him; to feel the shift of energy within his body and he was wanting it as the anticipation began to rise. Could she always feel these masses of energy around her, their emotions and could she push this unto them at will? There was no more tension, no more hesitation, rather he was lost to the fascination.

Their eyes meet briefly and in his dark red and brown she feels the ease of her own curiosity but she can also sense his wariness. He had every right to believe that there were ups and downs of the ability. Different aspects of it that were beneficial but also very scary because it allowed others to see a weakness if one was presented to them. Corinna had never used any of what she had been given from anyone to her advantage but it did allow her to see the emotional skeleton of those that kept her company.

His final push to surety didn’t seem so strong or confident, but she allowed herself a brief moment to try and dig and see if he was comfortable enough. While his mind seemed a little more relaxed and susceptible, she still couldn’t quite know just how eager he was to unfold himself in front of her. She liked to think she was at a higher level than a simple stranger but they were still new to each other. Just a few seconds was all it took for him to express that he didn’t want to say no – he didn’t want to turn her away. That simple phrasing was enough to grow a smile on her face as she looked at him with content adoration. He wanted her to know him.

Corinna, despite her eagerness, gave a few solid moments before she took a great breath before eluding a calm aura. Wishing to remain calm and collected, while she figured out what she wished to know of him. Do you have family here? It was a difficult question to transition to but as someone who had somewhat violently been taken away from family, she wanted to know if he had something happier. Not that her situation showed her as being anything but happy as to where she had come to be in life. While she had Sollee, she also had a lot of loneliness at her back… loneliness that truly only ever temporarily was fixed by the presence of individuals like the one before her now.
