"He's still dead when you're done with the bottle”

i. Explore 3 new territories

Their journey had been long, painfully long, in fact. Since the day they had fled their once warm home, she had no found a moment of rest. The girl was constantly looking over her shoulder for her former tribes men. She was sure they believed her to be kidnapped by the evil Mnafiki. But that wasn't the truth. Her brother was no monster. They were the monsters. Who were the ones who had signed her brother's death warrant? Who were the ones who celebrate his torture? Who were the ones who ignored the voice the reason? They had. Even their own mother did nothing to stop the atrocities committed against her only born son. She had loved her parents but now...now she was not so sure.

But they didn't matter.

She was more worried about her brother.

He had been regaining weight, and for that, she was grateful. It was a miracle that her brother had not died in the midst of their travels. When he slept, she was fearful of the smoke in his lungs. Where they suffocating him? Was he already gone? She went many a night without rest until she knew that he would be okay. Their journey had brought them to many barren lands and upon entering this one, Marjani expected nothing different.

She came to a halt suddenly, looking to her brother. "Inaj," She spoke, Jâjoian rolling off her tongue, "Where are we?"

"As his body became more and more defenseless,”
There would be no trust to find it's way into his heart. Not anymore. What he had now, was an attachment to his sister and no other soul would ever claim a place in his heart. But they could gain his distaste, and so far everyone and everything had been met with distrust. He trusted no gods, for they had turned their backs on him. He'd trusted the wrong gods, he supposed. It was a wonder he did not scream his dissatisfaction to the world, his pure and unbridled rage that wrapped around his body and mind to form a truly selfish impression. Deep ruby eyes scanned their surroundings, in a way that spoke of his perpetual irritation; the scowl that stuck to his lips did not falter even for his sister's familiar voice. But she would know, this was just how he was now. "A place we should not trust." Came his short, certain answer. The wilds they now stood in gave him the sensation of something dark and mysterious, but the terrain was far more welcoming than the barren lands they had traveled through thus far.
"Sister." Inajram faced her, turning his spine to the unknown and giving her his full attention. "Stop exuding concern, please." His tail flicked harshly, yet even with his irritation for the way she seemed so worried about him and their surroundings; his tone offered a form of comfort. It would do neither of them any good to let uncertainty and hesitation into their hearts. However, he also felt something else... ever since they'd stepped foot into Isfera; like he was being called to but he had no direction to follow or any idea of how to go about life within these lands.
“So his means of offense became steadily more frightful.”

Morana had traveled far and long, but she wanted to look at something else other than the waters she sees each morning and night. But to her, all waters were the same. It didn't matter what she thought or saw. So she had gone past the Masmori Wilds and had stayed there for a few hours, or so it seemed as the day past on. She had caught fish, lounged about, before she got bored. Rather quickly.

Getting to her large paws, bear like paws, and turned away from the shores that had kept her from the icy cold water. Moving towards her home in Wintervale, Morana didn't keep to the waters edge that would have easily made her trip simple, but went further inland where she could smell not one but two rogues. A male and a female. Stopping in her tracks Morana would look around until she could spot them. Ears pushing towards their voices as she would move towards them.

Unaware that both of these lions were going to be smaller than her and well, untrusting of lions like herself. But Morana would chuff for them to know that she would be nearby. It was clear, once she had come into view of the twins, that she was bigger than them. She normally was bigger than any lions here but her own kind. It was just that easy to know. So far, she had only met a hand full of those. It was far, and few in between them all honestly.

"He's still dead when you're done with the bottle”

Marjani rolled her eyes. "We've never trusted anywhere we've been before. Why would we start now?" Came her gentle retort. Inajram, though he suffered, was still her brother and she as glad that could still treat each other like siblings. But sometimes she felt he didn't worry enough. They had no idea what this land had in store. It was not barren, at least, and there were trees to provide shade. Perhaps there would be some water. She did not hold high hopes of this land, for it reminded her too much of home, or rather, what was supposed to be home.

"Please, stop exud-" A sudden pull in her stomach cut her words short. She glanced at her brother, a brief flash of shock in her eyes. What was that? Had Inajram felt it too? She only now had felt it -- an abrupt pull, almost like the tide. But the tide did not turn her stomach and force bile to rise in her throat. In her panic stricken state, she nearly stumbled into her brother, but caught herself and stood tall. Whatever had just happened disappeared, or at least, she thought it had. When she tried to touch it again, there was only nothingness. Despite her panic, Marjani's face remained placid, though she knew her brother could read past it. She was scared. What the hell was that?

"Inaj, we should ge-"

Then it showed up.

Marjani stared up at Morana with wide eyes. Slowly, she took a step forward, placing herself between this beast and her brother. For a moment, she felt that foreign pull again, but she tried to ignore it. Must have been bad mouse. "Inaj, stay behind me," She whispered quickly in Jâjoian. The lumbering beast merely stood there, but Marjani did not trust it at all. Surely, it wanted to feast upon to lone young adults in a foreign land. She was going to prove it wrong.

As the pull grew stronger she let a threatening roar rip through her throat.

Begone beast! it said.

"As his body became more and more defenseless,”
What she said was true. They didn't trust anywhere or anyone, but that had not always been the case. That simple fact was something that could not be undone, and it fueled the flames of his unforgiving nature. He could understand her unspoken need for a home, for a purpose that was more than being a wandering vagabond... but he did not feel the same. Any home he had would feel unclean, as though the gods would forake him in an instant; and it was for that reason that he knew. He knew anywhere they went would reject him, it would reject them. Still, no sharp retort came from his lips and he dropped the subject as quickly as he'd mentioned it. Inajram might have been callous and indifferent to most things nowadays, but there was indeed a part of him that would not be harsh to his sister. He could not be. She was all he had left. She was his home, even while giving her such a title only brought him the fear of being disowned by her as well.

And then suddenly they were both on edge. Tail lashing, Inajram's eyes flicked this way and that; trying to identify what was setting his sister into such a panic. He looked to her and only saw fear hidden behind her stoicism, which meant it was time to leave. However just as Marjani had voiced what they were both thinking, something came.

Deep crimson eyes held back none of his hostility, but he was still weak from both his imprisonment and their travels. Marjani stood in front of him, as though she were protecting a child; and that feeling it gave him was so humiliating. "I refuse." He shot back at her in their native tongue, pushing his way to stand at her side as they faced the massive creature observing them from too close a distance in his opinion. Yet... he could not help but think of how strange even the sensation of being in these lands was, let alone the things they were seeing.

Ears twitched as she sat down, making sure her large form did not look hostile, though it was kind of hard seeing as she was basically a bear compared to these two. Both became hostile towards her and though she was very tempted to growl in return and show them a few tricks up her fur; she would not do that. They were scared, this she could see as clear as the night sky. Though she would stay silent for a few minutes longer. Taking in both of their appearances.

They were similar, twins even but one was a male and the other a female this much she could see. Though the female seemed to be the one in a much healthier state she would not question it. It was not entirely her business. But now, the silence was over and Morana needed to tell them she wished them no harm. If they would believe her.

"You do not have to worry about me. I am not here to hurt you. Truthfully, I am the last one that would hurt you." Where would be the fun in that? Morana did not hurt children, well she did not hurt anyone that would not be able to fight back properly and have the slight chance to win. Which not many would probably win against her, she was rather large in size. Though it seemed - even though he was not looking to good - the male would refuse to run and hide from her. Something Morana could admire and perhaps even convince them to join her home. Though with their size and fur, she was not entirely sure they would make it.

"He's still dead when you're done with the bottle”

[So sorry! I thought I replied to this! ^^;]

There were days where she admired her brother's willfulness, but today was not one of those days. He refused to step back, and moved to her side despite her visible apprehension. This beast could kill them with a great swipe. She did not want her brother to suffer any more than he already had. She had not had the time to sit still and think about Inajram's actions. His entire life was full of others making decisions for him -- decisions that hurt them both. But she wasn't concerned about the past. If they were not careful, they wouldn't have any more time to reminisce on the few good months of their lives. She wasn't thinking of his pride -- she did not care for it. Pride was what caused their home to turn against them. Pride was the reason for all their suffering. She detested pride. But right now, her focus was on protected her brother, as she had failed to do all that time ago.

What kind of predator was this? It hardly looked like a creature from home...then again, they hadn't been home in months. The silence of Morana did not sit well with her. The pull deep in her gut grew into a distinct tug. She felt something. It was telling to her act, to call upon it, but when she tried, it ran from her. Her bemusement caused her to shoot a quick glance at her brother. She didn't understand what was going on at all, yet she couldn't ask him, not with this beast staring them down. She visibly jumped when Morana spoke. So...this was not common creature at all? Her aggression, however, did not fade. Morana's tongue was foreign to her ears, but she did understand. Marjani raised her chin, inspecting Morana with cold calculation. "Do not speak as though you understand who may seek to hurt us," She said dryly, growing agitated. She supposed this woman did not know anything about them, but Marjani did not care. That would was far too fresh.

Still, she regained her composure quickly. "Who are you and why do you approach us in just good favor? What is it you really want?" Her accusation of ill-intent was clear and unabashed.

What reason did they have to trust this utter stranger?
