march, y1 (spring)
The harsh winter has passed and given way to a mild spring. The north remains frigid and cold and the south remains starved of water, but the extreme temperatures and storms are slowly beginning to subside. Vegetation is beginning to grow where once it was too cold, and the rains are returning to the deserts previously plagued with wintry drought.

With recent events, the new king of Akrar was left to wonder about his next move. King. It was odd, in a sense, that it was his new title. That he had a place to rule, somewhere that he was expected to take care of. He could do it, though. He had hope that he could do it, at least. If he could think of what to do, what his first move could be. He could see what his status with the other groups were, but he hesitated at that. When it came down to it, he wasn't truly ready to risk making enemies with other kingdoms and their leaders. And, since he didn't know what the others were like, that was a real possibility. That would be best for another time and day, when he wasn't the only one in the kingdom.

There were likely other things he could do, but they were slipping his mind. The only thing he could think of was to welcome whoever wandered in. Answer their questions, introduce himself, show them around, offer a place to stay if they needed it. That was it; Adedayo decided silently. He'd wait, and, if nobody happened around, he'd just have to go out and try to recruit some lions. That's what good leaders would do, right? He didn't know much about leading, or anything, really, but it'd have to work. He would have to go with whatever seemed best until he learned more. Whenever that would be.

Shaking his head, he let out a call for anyone who may want to check the kingdom out. And those that could find the way, of course. And now, all he had to do was wait for someone to show.

This was not a land made for all the species, the Praelia did not have the dense coat of the Callosus, however he was not as small nor wispy as the Harenae to feel at ease as he did in his forest. This was no woodland sanctuary, but there had been a call issued that had carried across the winds, drifted through his ears as he was passing near the borders of the bridge to the deadlands. His footing was not easy here, an uncomfortable feel, but there was new sense of duty that encouraged him to continue onwards regardless. Normally he would try to circulate the air around him to cool him down, to keep the breeze flowing through his mane, however it was much too hot out here for it to be of any use. Instead he allowed the earth to shift beneath him, subtly to compress the sand just beneath his paws with each step so that he was more sure-footed than he would be otherwise. It would have been difficult to miss the horned beast that was ahead of him, so small and swarthy, it immediately attracted the caustic gaze of the ethereal creature.
The sight gave him pause as his creamy coat, still a soreness among the harsh, reddish hue of the sand, paled in comparison. Flaxen antlers rose stoutly above his skull as his nostrils flared gently, reeling in the scent of what appeared to be the source of the call that had resonated previously. His own voice, though strong, had a gentleness that was underlying as his ears rotated forwards. ”I am Ahriman Kvasir, answering your call.” He was still a man of few words though, unable to loosen his tongue even though they may have much to talk about. There were reservations, he himself revered the goddesses, but would this strange beast be the same? Had any filth begun to spread through the Isferans to create heretics? Hopefully those days were far off – but the recent absence, the strange detachment of his goddesses, did not bode well.

Not long after his call went into the air and all was quiet did Adedayo begin to become impatient. He knew that it wasn't the right thing to do, but he couldn't help it. If even one lion showed up, at least there would be some sort of promise. Someone would have at least noticed his call. His ears twisted, listening for any sign of an approach, his teal eye searching the area around him for the form of any sort of creature who may be approaching. There was nothing, yet, that caught his eye, and an almost annoyed sigh left his jaws. He just had to keep waiting, right? It wouldn't take such a short time for someone to appear, even if it seemed like it was longer than it was. At least, that's what Adedayo thought at first. Upon another scan of the area, he noticed another creature approaching, easier than the king would have expected, faster than he could gather his thoughts to greet the new arrival. Instead, he was left with no option but to wait for something, anything, as the other lion grew closer, proving themselves to be much taller than Adedayo had originally thought. To seemingly make matters worse, this literal giant compared to Adedayo had noticed him almost right away, and the king found himself staring up at the other, mind scrambling to find any way of how to greet them.

The lion in front of him was light in color, both compared to Adedayo and to the red sand that surrounded them. Antlers rose from the male's skull, matching the light color of his fur. The voice of the other seemed to break whatever spell Adedayo had found himself in, and he quickly took in the other's words. The name of the other, Ahriman Kvasir, was oddly fitting. It took a moment for Adedayo to realize that he hadn't said anything, and a jolt of embarrassment went through him. "W-Welcome, Ahriman, I'm Adedayo Collias, the king of this place." It was a horrible welcome, and Adedayo began to scold himself inwardly. His first time greeting someone, and he had already messed up.
