march, y1 (spring)
The harsh winter has passed and given way to a mild spring. The north remains frigid and cold and the south remains starved of water, but the extreme temperatures and storms are slowly beginning to subside. Vegetation is beginning to grow where once it was too cold, and the rains are returning to the deserts previously plagued with wintry drought.

The gradual slope and low vegetation make the going easy, even for such a big thing as Bengal. The rustle of leaves and the smell of the earth had the pale man in good spirits. Welcoming the sun on his back, he hooked his claws into the earth and spread his wings fully. After travelling through dense vegetation it felt great to properly stretch.

Although Bengal hadn't been here for long, he had already found a nice resting spot. A jutting mess of grass and earth made a mound beneath him. The yellow and white of his feathers caught the sunlight before he tucked them back to his sides. With a hefty sigh, Bengal settled down on the mild grass.

It wasn't likely he'd spend the day here. Although it was plentiful and peaceful along the slope, he was itching to explore still further. The day had many hours left and with the energy of spring all around him, Bengal felt renewed.

Bengal allows his wings to rest against the ground, comfortably half-sprawling himself against the sun-warmed earth. It was still early in the year, but he was relieved for the heat, as weak as it was. It held the promise of nice weather and thaws. Prey would soon be abundant again. he was looking forward to shifting from fish and small things to proper foods. In such a desolate time of year, it was always hard to keep up his bulk - he was, after all, large and needed a lot to sate his hunger.

How very lazy of you. The lilting laughter that followed would sound in his mind, the words a sweet serenade of sound that were musical in their own right. The bustle of grass and leaves gave away her arrival, landing slightly above him at an angle, as the slope allowed. There was a jutting piece of earth to the left of him that just barely allowed her to stand. Pale blue eyes gazed down at him with mild amusement. Coo-like whistles filled the air, her fur and feathers ruffling some as she settled into a sphinx position upon the warm earth. Wind brushed passed them, blowing her mane in her face, to which she snorted and blew it back off with a huff. Ears swept forward, attentive to his words and what he might say.

Ivizzi was grateful for companionship; it seemed so scarce as of late with her parents gone and siblings deceased.

Wings curled neatly against her sides, though not before gingerly stretching out. Food was also on her mind, as it were, the idea of a polar bear made her mouth nearly water - yet she knew that such magnificent meals didn't inhabit this area. Though, perhaps some other type of bear? A tilt of her head is given as she chirps warmly at him, that cropped tail of hers wiggling happily. This place is nice, you seem at home. Once more the words were spoken in a crystal clear voice within his mind. Silver lips curled into a smile, blue eyes glittering with mirth as she crossed her forepaws, one over the other. In truth, this was a somewhat new area to her. Ivizzi had always known it existed, but having been raised farther north, coming here had never really occurred to her until recently.

Magic was an interesting and wonderful thing. The man often pondered about it's origins. Obviously, it was divine... but why had Danika decided to grace them with such gifts? Why only some of them? It was a fascinating topic, but he was hardly a scholar. There was much he hadn't experienced outside his own magics, and he had faith there would only be more to discover.

When a voice chimes into his head, most certainly not his own inner-self, the man pauses where he lays. It takes him a moment to figure out the source: a silver creature landing gently to his left had spoken telepathically. Bengal gathers himself, blinking a little as he gets over the initial surprise. Politely, he dips his head in greeting as he murmurs an amused response "Can an honest man not afford a moment of sloth?" Golden eyes shift over to the striped woman, feeling a pleasant sense of kinship. She was his kind, and winged too. Despite how little he knew her, he was content with her company. Bengal suspected he'd seen her before in the very least.

She settles down, and he returns to relaxation too, having propped himself up at her arrival. Then for a second time she puts words in his mind. It was a little jarring to get used to. After all, Bengal hadn't met many telepaths in his time. He wondered whether she chose to communicate like that (it helped her mysterious image), or if she couldn't speak. It felt a little too personal of a question to ask, so he instead answers with something else.

"It is," he hums, casting his gaze at the wilderness around them, "Though I must admit, entirely new to me. I hail from the north." He suspected she did too, with a pelt like that. Wanting to secure her as an aquaintance rather than just a familiar face, he speaks up again. "My name is Bengal. May I ask yours, miss?"

I apologize if I startled you. She often took others off guard by her unusual manner. It took some getting used to, and even harmed some; so perhaps she should have asked first. Then again, there was no way of knowing until she tried. Not everyone could understand her mother language. There was always guilt with so casually invading another's mind with her voice, but explanation would always come after - usually. Blue eyes cast back toward him as words flowed smoothly from his mouth. Silver lips curled into an easy smile, a bubble of amusement tickling her chest and throat, threatening to come out.

In answer, Ivizzi rolled slowly onto her side, carefully tucking wings with the movement. Resting a cheek against the cool stone, bright eyes glittered with understanding and teasing. A lazy yawn escaped from within, causing her jaws to part and those seemingly dangerous teeth to flash. Though, it was rather obvious that Ivizzi's nature was far from aggressive. Despite where she was from, that is. Brows rose, ears swept in his direction as he spoke of where he was from. How far north? The faerie cooed gently in his mind, though there was an obvious hint of curiosity.

Bengal. Ivizzi repeated his name in her mind a few times, getting used to the sound. Rolling onto her back, limbs stretched out above her and the silver lioness peered at him from upside down. I am Ivizzi. It is a pleasure, Sir Bengal. There was a hint of teasing in those telepathic words, it matched the grin on her mouth. After all, an honest man deserved an honest title. Visually he appeared the white knight, with shining gold eyes and a reassuring, warm presence that she enjoyed. Ivizzi hoped, from here on out, they would meet often.

Her apology was sweet but misplaced, Bengal thought. It was hardly her fault he'd been taken off guard... if anything, he felt a little foolish for it. He shakes his broad head amicably in reply. "It'is fine," he assured, "I just haven't met many donatus who use telepathy." Secretly, he was fascinated by the idea of it. His own magics were so familiar and comfortable to him that it was easy to forget it came in many different forms. How does it work? was the biggest question but yet that was the same for his own powers. The not-knowing was frustrating, in an encouraging and adventurous way.

Bengal watches as she rolls over and silently senses for her general emotion. Whilst others abilities tended to be flashier or more interesting (part of the reason he took such fascination in them) he enjoyed figuring out how others were feeling. As far as he could tell, she was calm and at ease, but curious. That was good, promising a pleasant and easy conversation. As she speaks, his concentration wanes and he stops the spell. "Near bridgewater expanse." he easily shares, baritone voice a little melancholic. "At least, that's where I was raised... but I've been travelling along the northen coast now spring is here." The valley was an easier place to live out the bitter winters, but it was nice to be able to travel again. "You?" He had no qualms sharing his history with her: he had always been quick to trust, and Ivizzi was no exception.

The telepathy is less strange to him now after the few minutes of conversation. Her introduction is met with another nod. "Indeed a pleasure, miss Ivizzi." he answers evenly, a smile touching at his pale maw and warmth in his golden gaze.
