march, y1 (spring)
The harsh winter has passed and given way to a mild spring. The north remains frigid and cold and the south remains starved of water, but the extreme temperatures and storms are slowly beginning to subside. Vegetation is beginning to grow where once it was too cold, and the rains are returning to the deserts previously plagued with wintry drought.

Pre-dawn, the moment between night and day, one of only two times when there is balance between the perpetual cycle. The ocean to his right distant, almost endless; lapping waves which sooth the harsh rocks against the shore. The water’s rippling from the breeze which lapped ashore created a quiet cadence in the background, the smooth hymn of the earth. Fawn colored mane felt the winds rustle through, reaching deep and caressing the pink flesh beneath, mottled nose breathing in the salty air that clings to him. Broad shoulders relaxed as his haunches pressed against the soothing sand, caustic gaze flitting between the palms that rose high above him and the gentle lapping of the waters in the backdrop. Around him the wind began to gently swirl about him, ruffling through his mane and pressing warmth against his skin by recirculating the air. A small effect, controlled, but by now it was second nature to him. The twelve tines of his antlers rose high above his skull, crème colored branches deeply rooted into his skull. This gave him time to think, to digest the influx of life through Isfera, and to ponder what may come of the future in distraught land. Slowly his eyes began to seal, allowing the darkened circles around his eyes to give him a façade as his face darkened, outlined only by the markings along his cheeks and the white shards that starkly contrasted against the backdrop from the upper ridge of his cheeks. A quiet hum began to tickle his lips, the soft murmuring as his head swayed – moving the antlers through the air in a subtle weave.

Kazirr padded along the beach quietly in the pre-dawn light. Fog rolled in off the ocean, and he breathed it in deeply, almost unable to feel the difference in the air quality due to his natural ability of water-breathing. He let out a similarly deep sigh, one of contentment. He would walk the coast, basking in the light of the rising sun, once it did rise, waiting for the fog to evaporate so that he could lie down and sunbathe properly, napping the day away until evening. Perhaps he’d walk the beach by moonlight, then, or perhaps take a swim in the bracing spring-temperature waters. Maybe catch a fish.

His light teal eyes, the color of the ocean on a sunny day, caught a shape coming nearer as he walked. He smiled in his way, a sort of mischievous grin that lifted only half of his mouth. He never minded company so long as they were civil. But he didn’t want to break the silence of the morning, so he continued padding along in the sand for a time. They were still rather far from him, so he took his time reaching them, ambling slowly, enjoying the feeling of sand beneath his webbed paws.

Kazirr studied what he could of the other lion. They had antlers, for one. Interesting. He assumed they must not be from the coast, then, as he’d never seen anyone around here with antlers, and he spent almost all of his time walking the coastline. Eventually, he drew near enough to them to let them know of his presence if they did not already know. Instead of speaking, he simply found a few rocks and seashells to “accidentally” kick around, making a few clacking sounds in the sand as he did so.

The land south of the snowy expanse is boring and the further south she goes, the warmer her temperature rises. With nearly two days travel and plenty of rest stops, her paws hit sand and she begins to wonder if she should turn back. Her ivory coat keeps the sun reflected for the most part, which had dealt with the heat up until this point. However, it doesn't seem to be helping much longer, leaving the gargantuan white lioness overheated and sweaty. Her naturally curly, dense fur is matted down with sweat and the only relief she'll be able to bring herself is to swim. It still takes a couple more hours of travel before she happens upon a coastline, and the water is much brighter than what she has seen her entire life. So...clear. Bright pink eyes light up in intrigue and confusion as the ivory bear moves closer to the water, bending down to give it a quick investigation. She's entirely oblivious to the men who are further up then her, her sole focus on the color of the water. After determining it was safe, she makes a leap into the ocean to soak her pelt and free herself of sweat.

Freyja stays submerged a few moments, letting the water thoroughly saturate her pelt. When she runs out of air, she gives herself a shove towards air, breaking surface with a gasp of breath. Her mane falls flat over her eyes and she has to shake out her hair to see. Only then does she take notice of the two men, both smaller than her substantially. Eyes furrow in curiosity, only ever having seen other Callosus her entire life. She offers a soft grunt, eyes flickering to a piercing white for a moment as she hums to the wind to offer her a personal breeze. It takes a few moments, but she encapsulates herself in a gentle whirlwind to keep the hair moving and keep herself chilled in the heat. " "

It was always noticeable when the earth allowed the presence of another to change its impressions, for even though Kazirr was still far off, there were many indicators that Ahriman was no longer alone. The wind wrapped the bodies differently, created a more dense sound that the hollowness between the palm trees behind would emanate. The distinct sound of seashells, rocks, and whatever debris lay in the sand was enough pull open his eyes; casting their gaze upon the equally young Harenae. Had not the sudden splashing of a submerging creature pulled away his attention, he might have inspected further the attributes of the male. The movement of his skull cuts through the wind that was circulating around him, settling so that it was only around his feet and warmly tossing sand around the tops of his crème toes. With his attention split between the two of them, he only ponders the bear-like lioness for a moment before his voice was roused. Smooth and strong like a honey whiskey is resonates within his breast, thrumming with the ease and confidence of a lion within his own comforts. ”A rare occurrence, three of a kind.” At least it was something he’d never experienced, though solitude in the forest following in the footsteps of his grandfather hardly constituted as valuable life experience when it came to the sociable gatherings – instead he was used to reveling in silence, pouring his soul into prayer at the sacred shrines. But this was good experience, having taken Reykir under his control had been a purposeful move, to gather the believers of Isfera together so that the goddesses might take their loyalty and duty into consideration in these unsettling times.

The sound of a splash distracted Kazirr for a moment, and he turned his head to look towards the ocean. A white head popped out of the waves somewhere distant from him. He smiled in the direction of the lioness, pleased by her jump into the sea. He had a way of finding small joys everywhere he looked. It kept his spirits up with all the chaos going on in the world. The other male, the one with antlers, had also noticed the lioness. He murmured something about “three of a kind,” and Kazirr turned his head forward again to look at him. The Harenae, also, was used to solitude. He usually met only one lion at a time, if any, as he traveled the coast.

He took another step toward the larger male, asking in his quiet, exotic voice, “What was that about ‘three of a kind?’” As someone who enjoyed conversation with others, he did not like to miss the words of those who spoke. Listening was normally more important for him than speaking. He turned his head for a moment to look back at the lioness, who seemed to have finally noticed that she had company. Kazirr let out a low call, one of greeting and friendliness, and then he faced the Praelia once more. He sat down in the sand, partly to show that he planned on staying a while, and partly because he was a lion who enjoyed the coast and didn’t mind sand in places other lions might mind.
