march, y1 (spring)
The harsh winter has passed and given way to a mild spring. The north remains frigid and cold and the south remains starved of water, but the extreme temperatures and storms are slowly beginning to subside. Vegetation is beginning to grow where once it was too cold, and the rains are returning to the deserts previously plagued with wintry drought.

Throughout the time here, she had kept steadily to herself. It was easy to simply drift away from the prospect of mingling with others but as someone who often craved companionship, it was a difficult task to do. Corinna enjoyed the company of others but even as they journeyed through the vast and treacherous lands, did she come to realize that she might not even get the chance to meet anybody. So far Corinna, and her band of misfits, hadn’t met anyone here. It was just her and her boys, that was it… and she couldn’t even share with them her gifts.

For many moons after her first year she had begun to feel them truly escalate. It was only when she found Sollee and saved him, that she had realized that she had felt everything he did. Fear, confusion, destruction… all of it was laid bare for her to touch and encompass. She wished she could take away those scary emotions but it wasn’t something she was particularly skilled in yet. At most she could give you just a hint of contentment but she couldn’t make it last. One day she might be able to do the full-fledged thing but for now she simply had to make due.

Though after her long jaunt through the dangerous mountain range across the plains, Corinna was quite tired and easily continued to move through the light fog towards what looked to be a reflection of the fog. A misty area where she could see the length of trees portrayed back into the water’s center. Only here did she take a moment to sniff out her surroundings – and the nature of the water she gazed at – before leaning down to take a drink or two.

"CAREFUL CORINNA." It was a sudden call of warning that rang out from the massive beast, his ears flattened against his onyx skull and his brows furrowed together in a pointed expression as he stared at his companion drinking from the lake. "CORINNA. CAREFUL. THERE'S CROCODILES. CORINNA!" While this sort of warning might typically be the dire sort, Sollee was wearing a shit-grin with a gleam of mischief in his gaze of pine. Truly, comedic gold. It took all of the man's restraint to keep from breaking down into fits of laughter at his own hilarity while he remained waiting for a reaction--waiting for a spark of annoyance in her gaze or a sarcastic remark in turn.

While her company was not constant, it was rare that the man ventured very far from the lioness for too long. He kept his loved ones under his watchful eye and the gray lioness definitely fell in this category. Slowly the titan lowered his hindquarters into a lumbering sit, his tail wrapping around his paws neatly as his nose twitched to get a scent of the air. He rather disliked the fog. It was surely hiding something that he would have to beat up later.

He thought little about those outside of his inner circle. For the moment, this included Corinna and Teake--oh, Teake was fucking hilarious. If Sollee was not so intent upon getting a reaction right in that moment he would pause to miss the man for a moment.

"SORRY--I THINK IT LEFT. FALSE ALARM, KEEP DOING YOUR THING." His stare was unwavering as the man remained seated a few yards away from the muddy shores of the lake, claws flexing into the earth subconsciously. He did not necessarily want to fight her--only, Sollee wanted attention. She was not looking at him or thinking about him (presumably) and the large, charcoal lion was intent upon fixing this situation.

"HEY CORINNA." Finally he got around to a suitable greeting.

As ever, Corinna is quiet and the silence around her gives a certain peace of mind. This seemed to be just the perfect place to rest her head and grow into the silence, but she knew better than to assume that it would last. Silence never did, especially when Sollee was present. Rosy steel head picked itself up cautiously when she was given a warning, her friend being ever cautious of her. Though, she would have gladly made light caution if he hadn’t of screamed that there were crocodiles running amuck.

Immediately the woman bounced back with a sharp inhale, her eyes trying to pinpoint the water where some beady black eyes might be poking out. She was prepared to see something slither her away ( she had yet to actually see the shit-grin on his shit face ) but clearly it must be something that he had seen for just a second and it would attack at any moment.

It wasn’t just a moment before he expressed that it had left that she turned to look at his face – to find comfort in what she thought might be fear for him to – before seeing that very frustrating smile. “You snake!” she spits, thrusting herself forward and aiming to smack her left forepaw against his shoulder. “Don’t do that!” she cried, desperately hoping that she would never have to make a run from a crocodile. She didn’t know if they were fast on land or not but she hoped she would be able to outrun them with their meaty short legs.

She bounced back so instantly. His heart was pumping within his chest as he was met with quite a satisfying reaction, his mouth only stretching wider into his shit grin. Really Sollee expected for her to know he was lying almost immediately, but the steel lioness seemed to be searching the water for prey--oh no! Why would she dare trust anything he had to say? Where there was fun to be poked, Sollee wielded a cattle prod.

She turned around. Her face morphed into something different and angered. The moment he saw her his mouth parted into spilling laughter, his eyes squinting shut as he braced for the impact he deserved. "ODD WAY TO TREAT YOUR SAVIOR!" the man retorted between chuckles, taking a step back to try and evade any further attacks (besides the smack to the shoulder--he had that one coming,) and shaking his mane frivolously. He'd only wanted a reaction--hitting him counted. Calling him a snake counted. Really, Sollee was getting exactly his way and he was going to keep that grin plastered on his face to show it.

"WATCH YOURSELF OR I'LL TELL HIM TO COME BACK AND GET YOU. CROCODILE. THERE IS A PARTICULARLY TENDER LIONESS RIGHT HERE--WITH THE WEIRD COLORS." he announced lackadaisically, tossing his head to talk to the great beyond. His green gaze wandered into a side-stare to see if Corinna was looking, and if he should brace for another hit. His stomach rumbled idly but he paid no mind just yet--shenanigans were at hand.

The pale steel woman was incredibly gullible and she trusted Sollee so much so that she was willing to believe him when he announced that there was danger afoot. She could swear that he was a guy that was determined to be nice and to treat his friend with respect, yet here he was trying to make her feel like a squabbling idiot. “You’re no savior, Sollee – you’re just being an asshole.” It was times like these it would have been funny to put a voice inside of his head to say that he should treat her with more respect than he was now. That he should value her instead of play pranks on her because there was no telling when she might not be around anymore. No telling how long she would be able to put up with these immature tricks.

A roll of her eyes and a twist of her lips as to how frustrated she was with him. In truth, she imagined that she wasn’t all that thrilled with his company at all right now. They had come here together and yet this wasn’t exactly what she had had in mind for the future. Then again, she didn’t really know what it held even if she tried to picture it. “You think you’re so funny,” she muses and while she wishes it were completely in a friendly and teasing tone she could feel the anger tip a little sour in there, “see what happens when I’m gone.”

With that Corinna shakes her head and begins to walk away from the Lake, hopeful that he might chase after her and apologize but she wasn’t so sure that he was even capable of guilt.

Asshole. Yes--this was definitely a name Sollee answered to. Another eruption of laughter spilled over and he gave his eyes a great roll as the woman turned and began to stomp off. One brow raised as Sollee noted that typically Corinna did not get so worked up over his jokes. She didn't enjoy them, sure, but for a moment the man wondered if he had actually hurt her.

"OH COME ON, YOU KNOW I DIDN'T MEANT ANYTHING BY IT," the Chagrin pleaded as he lifted himself to his feet and skipped on after her. He was no groveler, but he could go through the motions of mending things with his best girl. He tossed his hair out of his eyes and attempted to come up around Corinna's right side to prevent her from walking off on him. "IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR MEANER TO LET YOU GET EATEN." Dig yourself a deeper hole, why don't you?

"HEY, CORINNA," something in his tone changed. He tried to block her path. His brows furrowed together and his lips tightened into a thin line. "JUST LISTEN REAL QUICK. I KNOW THINGS IN ISFERA HAVE BEEN GOOD FOR A WHILE, BUT WE CAN'T LAST LIKE THIS FOREVER--JUST ROGUES DOING WHATEVER-THE-FUCK. I'VE MARKED OUT A KINGDOM FOR US, BUT... WELL. I WANT YOU TO JOIN. WE'LL BE SAFER THIS WAY." HIs eyes were glistening with a rare sincerity as he searched her face for an answer. While Sollee did not have a large circle, his priority was keeping those he loved safe--this included the dramatic girl in front of him. This was the best way he knew to protect her.

If not for the steady reminder that Sollee and Teake needed her, Corinna likely would have left their side a long time ago. She didn’t stand for jokes that had the potential to endanger her life. If it had been a joke about a caterpillar on her shoulder or head, she could deal – but a crocodile in the water that could potentially kill her? That was a joke too far, my friend. “Just apologize, Sol.” That was all he had to do to begin with and yet he couldn’t even manage an apology. She didn’t expect it to be a flourished and well-thought out one but the least he could do was try. He didn’t need to grovel, just express that it was in poor taste.

Of course, when the man moved to block her path did she halt and her head lifted up so that she wouldn’t run into him with the hard stop. “One condition,” because his proposal seemed barbaric at best. How did he expect to have a kingdom with potential members if he couldn’t even support her emotional state? “You have to apologize to me,” because this would probably end up being a very difficult thing for him to do but he couldn’t go about being an ass to members that might seek to stay here.

If he wanted to build a true Kingdom, then he had to reach out to their members on a kinder base so that they were willing to put their faith in him. Corinna couldn’t be the reigning force nor did she wish to be the brains behind the operation. “Do you know how to run a Kingdom?” She certainly didn’t know how to do that so it seemed only obvious that she ask him if he had an idea of what he was setting out to do.
