The harsh winter has passed and given way to a mild spring. The north remains frigid and cold and the south remains starved of water, but the extreme temperatures and storms are slowly beginning to subside. Vegetation is beginning to grow where once it was too cold, and the rains are returning to the deserts previously plagued with wintry drought.

The sun was beginning to rise. Though it was not as bright as it once was, but she knew that Danica was watching over her. She kept telling herself that would go and visit the Goddess one day. Offer her a prayer, her strength, but she had not done such a thing yet. Morana was still trying to find her members. Was still trying to grow her Kingdom once more. So, today she ventured out of her den, climbing up the cliff side as if she had done this her entire life; which she had basically. Once she had reached the top, Morana stopped and closed her eyes breathing in the fresh morning air. It filled her lungs as she got ready for the trip to where ever. Turning, Morana would move along the vast land covered in snow. Claws burying into the ground as much as she could. In some places the ice was still to thick and she had to be careful that she wouldn't slip and fall. And even though she got closer to the Southern part of Isfera, she found herself moving into the Frostlands. Here she knew that it was tricky. The land was still covered in a thick layer of ice and as she reached the top of the territory violet eyes would look down to the valley below. Violet eyes would look around for a more secure path and when she found one, the inky Queen would smile before closing her eyes she would pray to Danica before feeling the magic tickle through her entire body and when she opened her eyes and looked down, she saw over-sized white paws. She had been successful in shapeshifting into a Polar Bear and would begin the trek down to the bottom of the Valley.

The snowy plain was easier to fly over than traverse. With the weak sun making his golden feathers only brighter, the pale man was steadily winging his way over the frozen landscape. Despite the fingers of warmth, the air was still bitterly cold and he was glad for his thick pelt at that moment. The chill on his nose and paws was intense, and he had to squint against the rush of icy air buffeting his face. Even though he was aware of the temperatures, the exertion of flying was keeping him warm. At least his wings didn't feel stiff from the cold any longer.

The ice below him was blue and grey, spotted with cloudy furrows of white. Noticing the ache beginning in his shoulders - a symptom of too long a flight - he begrudgingly began to bank left, slowly and steadily losing height. It was even colder as he drew closer to the icy ground, but the wind was weaker. When he merely a few feet above the ground, Bengal hovered for a few difficult moments; he wasn't built for such a thing. Then with a huge thud, he landed.

Bengal's wings rustled as he folded them neatly to his sides, golden gaze flickering over the icy terrain. It didn't take long for him to realise he had company; a polar bear. Immediately, he was focused. Bears could be prey in the desolate winter months, and his mind immediately jumped to the idea of hunting. It had been a tiring flight, but he was certain he could muster the energy. On wing at least, the chances of this creature escaping him were slim. Beginning to skulk towards Morana (unaware the bear he was trying to stalk was another magic user), Bengal broke into a predatory trot, steadily closing the distance.

She did not hear the lion above, and did not see him land on the icy ground as she trudged down to the bath with her large polar bear body. Her large body wobbling down the bath until she was on a more straight ground. Her stubby tail moving in excitement. If felt weird to not have a long tail. However, as she looked around violet eyes took notice of the golden male that was stalking towards her and for a moment; she forgot that she was a polar bear. Wondering why he was stalking her like she was some prey and then it hit her; she was prey, at least to him she was. Lips peeled back as her large head lowered closer to the ground as she would growl a polar bear growl. Large claws dug into the cold bitter ground below them as she stood her ground. Even now, at the potential threat of another lion stalking her, the inky [ well she was not inky at the moment ] Queen never ran from danger. She laughed in its face as it stalked towards her like the predator it was. Violet eyes locked and focused on the golden man before her. Morana took note of the wings that stayed to his side. She had never seen another with wings and she kind of wished she had some however, she enjoyed the magic she did have. Controlling the elements and shape shifting; she enjoyed this better than some wings.

The bear's behaviour was incredibly strange, as far as Bengal could tell. The shaggy animal took a long time to notice him, and he was beginning to wonder whether it was merely nonplussed by his presence and an easy meal when the waddling beast looked up. Bengal paused his approach, body lowered in the suggestion of a pounce and his tail swishing behind him. Bengal might as well have been a very obvious rock, with how still he was. Bears rarely fled from confrontation, and now it was acting in a more predictable manner, he was feeling more assured.

The snarl makes the pale lion's ears prick, but he doesn't snarl or bluster in response. There was no stealth in such a landscape; only brute force and speed. If he could make the bear stop it's bluff, perhaps he'd have a chance. The thick pelt and winter fat on such a creature made it a difficult kill, and at his current angle he wasn't sure he had any openings. Charging straight into those teeth and claws would be a sure fire way for injury. Perhaps if he could calm it down?

Still focusing, Bengal summons up energy and attempts to emit a silent but persuasive aura of calm toward Morana, activating his empathy magic. For more docile prey he felt foolish doing so, but with an aggressive bear sizing him up, the callosus thought it was better safe than sorry. Bengal knew still had a long way to fly, and healing would expend too much energy. Eyes narrowed, he waits for his spell to take effect.

Stillness was never something Morana enjoyed doing but she knew that this terrain did not give much shelter for hunting. Violet eyes watched lion before she felt a sudden wave of calmness and with that her magic tingled through the entirety of her body and that polar bear fur and white coat changed instantly into her extra large, extra fluffy, inky form as she basically collapsed. She had not realized that she had used that much magic to cause herself to change, and since Danica was not as powerful as before due to Daivat, it did drain her energy some. With the calmness coming from the male drastically and very sudden, Morana had not had time to prepare herself to stay in her polar bear state. And now, as her original form, Morana laid on the ground to catch her breathe. Damn, the inky Queen had never wanted anyone to see her in such a state and normally she was in her den at home in Wintervale where she could rest and be like this with no eyes to stare at her. She hated looking weak in front of everyone, especially strangers. But slowly, the ebon Queen would blink her orbs open and would push herself up to her over-sized paws, forcing herself up to a wobbling standing position so that she could face the winged male before her. "What the hell.." A whisper of the words slipped through her lips, not to anyone in general as she watched him.

Much to Bengal utmost shock, the chubby meal before him changed forms completely. It took only a second for him to realise it was a lioness, dark in colour and uniquely-marked. Forgetting his manners in his surprise, Bengal stared. Had he made a mistake? He hadn't been weirdly trying to hunt this lioness thinking she was a polar bear somehow, right? She was very obviously the wrong colour, despite the scent being the same Blinking rapidly and trying to make sense of the situation, Bengal's brow furrowed in a soft, puzzled frown.

It wasn't until Morana struggled to her paws did he remember himself. "Are you alright, miss?" he uttered concernedly, still terribly confused but wanting to be polite, "I- I-" he searched for words, and explanation, "I didn't see you there, my apologies. I was... hunting." Had he had a mild fainting spell and not realised when a bear and this woman had switched places? The idea of magic had not yet occurred to him, as he'd never met a lion with such an ability.

Sheepish and concerned, Bengal dipped his head low in a gesture of formal apology, guessing by her murmured words that she wanted an introduction, "My name is Bengal, miss. May I ask yours?" He had quickly relaxed from a hunting posture previously, but now he saw fit to seat himself, wings shuffling back into place against his flanks as he neatly curled his tail by his paws. Idly, he wondered what she was doing here.

She watched him as he basically s t a r e d at her. Was there something on her pelt? For a moment, violet eyes glanced over towards her back and looked for anything until the man spoke. Asking if she was alright. A small nod came from her inky head as she looked to him once more. "I'll be fine." And she probably would have smacked him if she really did feel up to it. However, that was not the case. "Yea you were hunting me." She would muse, shaking herself of any lose ice or rocks that may have clung to her pelt when she had suddenly shape shifted back to her original form. Morana would watch him closely as he switched from the hunting posture he had once had to the more relaxed and sitting down. Now that they were closer in distance she can tell that he was now gold but white. The complete opposite of her form but his wings were that startling gold color on the very edges. It was astonishing really and eye catching. However, when he introduced himself as Bengal and then asked for her own name, she grew hesitant. Morana didn't trust many but she needed to let someone in; right? "Morana, where did you come from?" She had not seen him land, but then again she hadn't been looking up at the sky as she had traveled down the path. But, for now, Morana would sit down and allow herself to rest.

Guilt fluttered in Bengal's belly as he realised he was making her uncomfortable and he dropped his gaze, trying to tone down his lingering bemusement. It was reassuring to hear her cool words, and the large man dipped his head in recognition. He wasn't the picky, flapping sort who assumed someone was under the weather regardless of what they said - instead, he believed her. Yet he was still in for another shock as she shared an explanation to the situation. It didn't click quite immediately, with Bengal beginning a protest. "...no, I was hunting a bear..." he mused, then the light of understanding flickered in his pale eyes. "Oh," he said with a gasp, "You are donatus? That is your magic?" He seemed to suddenly catch a note of enthusiasm and intrigue in his deep voice, though his tone was still quiet and smooth.

Bengal unconsciously nodded to himself, pleased to have figured out the puzzle. A smile flittered upon his muzzle, and the pale man focused in time to hear Morana's returned introduction. "A pleasure, miss Morana." he uttered, and was more than happy to share his background. "I hail from the north-east, but i've recently been in the south." Winter had been hard on a rogue and he'd been forced to fly to greener pastures. "Or... do you mean just now?" he asked, considering context, "I was flying over the ice, before. Tis' difficult going." With a prick of his ears, he calmly returns the question, "What about you?"

Ears twitched as he seemed to be in denial that she had, in fact, not been the bear he had been hunting. However that soon changed once he realized that she had magic, that she was a donatus. A nod came from her head, "You would be correct." She would state. However, Morana still could not figure out what had caused her to change forms so suddenly. "I can shape shift and control the elements." Though there was not much that she could control here. It was all ice. No water, not much rocks, no fire, so she couldn't really do that. Perhaps wind could have been used to carry her down but she had instead used her shape shifting abilities. It had been much easier. Ears would push forwards as he spoke of hailing for the north-east but recently coming from the south. She understood. The winter had been brutal. Harsh even to her but Morana had not abandoned her home in Wintervale. Even with Daivat rising, she stuck to her beliefs and trusted in the sun Goddess Danica. And no one, not even the destruction God himself, would change that. "Wintervale is where I hail from." And then she wondered, was he just visiting the North or returning? "What brings you back to the North?" The question juggled around in her head as she would wait for the a response from the gold winged man. If he was here to stay, then perhaps Morana would ask him to join Wintervale. To call it his own home.
